IIT Roorkee has eleven courses under its B.Tech programme. The institute also offers five-year dual degree programmes wherein both B.Tech and M.Tech degrees are awarded. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted at the all India level. Candidates willing to join the postgraduate programmes in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, and pharmacy have to pass this test. The Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) is conducted for admission to the management programmes of all IITs and IISc. However, the application has to be made separately for admission to each institute. The Joint Admission Test for MSc is a common entrance exam for admission to the various postgraduate programmes and 3-year post B.Sc programmes.
